Native Bunch The Mythical white Waratah
In the 1880's the Waratah flower was greatly admired and gathering the blooms from the Sydney surrounding bush was common place although by 1883 it was lamented that the constant gathering of Waratahs from the bush had now seen the disappearance of Waratahs from the Sydney neighbourhood and it was predicted that the Waratah would also soon disappear from the surrounding bush of the Blue Mountains. It was also argued for years that there was no such thing as a White Waratah bush but that any white Waratahs that were found were albinos of the red Waratah.
Our Posies over the past few weeks have featured both the White and the Red Waratahs and here at Native Bunch we 🖤 both!
