Native Bunch | Smoky Sydney Sunset
Smokebush & Leucospermums
In Australia, Smokebush is mainly endemic to Western Australia however there is one Smokebush that is an Eastern Australian plant, the Conospermum ericifolium, and it was noted in the early 1800's how prolific it was in Sydney and its surrounds.
These days the hills and lagoon of Curl Curl, here on the Northern Beaches, are covered with houses but it was noted back in 1889 during a botanical excursion that the lagoon and its vicinity were covered in masses of Wildflowers and shrubs such as Callistemons and Heaths such as the C. ericifolium. It must have been truly a sight to see the mass of colourful flowers & shrubs when coming over the hill from Dee Why!
This week Native Bunch has combined Smokebush & rocket Pincushions to make interesting looking Posies this week. See them at: www.nativebunch.com.au
